Julia Zalkovic was born in Edmonton, Alberta and has been teaching violin since 2015. She began learning the piano in 2012 and in 2018 she received First Class Honours when she completed the Royal Conservatory of Music Piano Level 8 examination. She studied with Violaine Melançon at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music in Montreal where she began her Bachelor in Violin Performance music studies in 2019.
She has competed in numerous music competitions in Edmonton and Sherwood Park on both the violin and the piano, receiving scholarships as well as competing in Provincials. Julia has also performed in various orchestras, being a part of the EYO (Edmonton Youth Orchestra in 2012, and later playing as part of the University of Alberta’s USO (University Symphony Orchestra) in 2018. While playing as a member of the USO, Julia majored in Psychology at the University of Alberta.
Julia loves teaching and watching her students grow; she believes that music is a language we can all understand, and teaching music has been incredibly rewarding and fulfilling for her.
